SOCIAL HABITS SCHEME OF WORK FOR NURSERY ONE (SECOND TERM)

 This Social Habits Scheme of Work for Nursery One (Second Term) was prepared in accordance to the Lagos State Government Ministry of Education, Early Childhood Care Scheme and has been simplified in such a way that all teachers taking the class will be able easily understand and prepare their lesson plans with it. 

It comprises of the topic, teaching activities and suggested learning materials. 

SOCIAL HABITS - NURSERY ONE (SECOND TERM)

WEEK ONE: Revision of first term's work

WEEK TWO
• TOPIC: Good and Bad Habits
• CONTENTS/TEACHING ACTIVITIES
i. Teacher gives simple meaning on what Good and Bad Habits are
ii. Teacher guides the pupils to mention the good habits they practise.
iii. Pupils are made to say some bad habits they know and the teacher encourages pupils to stop practising all bad habits.
• LEARNING MATERIALS: Posters/Chart on various good and bad habits


WEEK THREE
• TOPIC: Helping Yourself
• CONTENTS/TEACHING ACTIVITIES
i. Teacher guides the pupils to demonstrate how to help themselves
ii. Pupils describe how they do certain things by themselves.
iii. Pupils are made to say what they cannot do by themselves and are encouraged to learn to do it by themselves
iv. Compose a rhyme on "Helping Yourself
• LEARNING MATERIALS: Pictures/Charts highlighting the responsibilities of the child


WEEK FOUR
• TOPIC: Dressing Habits
• CONTENTS/TEACHING ACTIVITIES
i. Teacher tells the pupils the need to dress properly.
ui. Teacher guides pupils on how to dress properly i.e. how a boy or girl should dress.
Habits
iii. Pupils are made to orally dress themselves up properly.
iv. Pupils role-play how to dress in their locality. (This could be a group work in one of the day's of the week)
• LEARNING MATERIALS: Posters/Chart on Proper Dressing Habits


WEEK FIVE
• TOPIC: Interaction
• CONTENTS/TEACHING ACTIVITIES:
i. Teacher gives simple meaning on what "Interaction" is.
ii. Teacher guides pupils to interact well with each other in the class.
iii. Teacher encourages pupils on how to interact well with other people.
iv. Teacher guides pupils on how to interact and express self freely.

GROUP WORK:
Teacher and the pupils either in small groups or as an entire class carries out a group work based on any of the topics taught between week 1-5.

WEEK SIX: MID TERM BREAK


WEEK SEVEN:
• TOPIC: Friendship
• CONTENTS/TEACHING ACTIVITIES:
I. Teacher discusses with pupils on what "Friendship" is.
ii. Teacher explains to pupils the importance of friendship to them and the country.
iii. Teacher mentors and cautions pupils to be aware of the effect of having bad friends.
iv. Pupils sing rhymes/songs on "Friendship" .
• LEARNING MATERIALS: Videos of rhymes on Friendship


WEEK EIGHT
• TOPIC: Friendship (Birthday)
• CONTENTS/TEACHING ACTIVITIES:
i. Teacher allows the pupils to interact with each other by saying their respective age.
ii. Pupils are encouraged to say their best friend's name one after the other.
iii. Pupils are encouraged to know their friends' birthday and celebrate with them on those days.
iv. Sing a 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY song.
• LEARNING MATERIALS: Videos on different birthday songs


WEEK NINE:
• TOPIC: Special Days  (Children's Day, Independence Day, Workers' Day, etc.)
• CONTENTS/TEACHING ACTIVITIES:
i. Teacher leads the pupils by mentioning the special days we have in Nigeria.
ii. Pupils learn the respective dates of the special days from the teacher.
iii. Pupils compose songs for the special days with the help of the teacher.
• LEARNING MATERIALS: Chart showing the date of the various special days with pictures of who or what is celebrated.


WEEK 10 & 11: REVISION

WEEK 12 & 13: EXAMINATION
