CIVIC EDUCATION SCHEME OF WORK FOR NURSERY ONE (THIRD TERM)

 This Civic Education Scheme of Work for Nursery One (Third Term) was prepared in accordance to the Lagos State Government Ministry of Education, Early Childhood Care Scheme and has been simplified in such a way that all teachers taking the class will be able easily understand and prepare their lesson plans with it.  

It comprises of the topic, teaching activities and suggested learning materials

SUBJECT: CIVIC EDUCATION (THIRD TERM)

WEEK ONE: Revision of 2 Term's work

WEEK TWO
• TOPIC: Social Activities.
• CONTENTS/TEACHING ACTIVITIES: Teacher should:
i. Discuss the meaning of social activities.
ii. Discuss and list some social activities in the community with the pupils, eg. birthday, cultural dance, naming ceremony etc.
iii. Interact with the children round and encourage them to socialize with others.
• LEARNING MATERIALS: Real objects on the school playground that involve the children coming together, like Merry-go-round, swing, slide, etc.

WEEK THREE:
• TOPIC: Conflict Resolution
•CONTENTS/TEACHING ACTIVITIES: Teacher should:
i. Discuss simple meaning of conflict and resolution.
ii. Discuss and train the pupils on anti-social behaviour e.g. abusing, fighting, stealing etc.
iii. Teachers and caregivers areChart on Basic advised to respond appropriately to child's/pupils' anti-social | behaviour.
• LEARNING MATERIALS: Charts on Child Friendly environment


WEEK FOUR
• TOPIC: Child's Basic Rights
• CONTENTS/TEACHING ACTIVITIES: Teacher should:
i. Discuss the meaning of rights to pupils.
ii. List and discuss some rights to pupils eg. love, education, good tood, health, play etc.
• LEARNING MATERIALS: Document on the Basic Rights of the Child


WEEK FIVE:
• TOPIC: Play Activities
• CONTENTS/TEACHING ACTIVITIES: Teacher should:
i. Stimulate the pupils with variety of toys and other useful materials to learn as they play.
ii. List and encourage children to participate in some activities e.g. dance, clap, run, jump, play with toys etc.
• LEARNING MATERIALS: Play equipment and toys

WEEK SIX: MID TERM BREAK

WEEK SEVEN:
• TOPIC: Gender Fairness
• CONTENTS/TEACHING ACTIVITIES: Teacher should:
I. Discuss simple meaning of gender
ii. Guide the pupils to identify gender differences e.g. boy-girl, man-woman.
iii. initiate plays and activities that will promote fairness among gender
• LEARNING MATERIALS: Boys and Girls' clothing, Pictures/Charts of boys and girls wears


WEEK EIGHT
• TOPIC: Child's Environment
• CONTENTS/TEACHING ACTIVITIES: Teacher should:
i. Discuss simple meaning of environment
ii. Discuss and demonstrate how pupils can take care of the environment e.g. pruning of flowers, sweeping, use of litter bins.
iii. Guide the pupils to explore the school environment.
• LEARNING MATERIALS: Pictures/Charts of  sanitation kits and tools used for domestic chores


WEEK NINE
• TOPIC: Correct Dressing
• CONTENTS/TEACHING ACTIVITIES: Teacher should:
i. Discuss the meaning of dressing with the pupils.
ii. Guide the pupils to identify the differences in the dressing of boys and girls.
iii. Mention some clothes for boys e.g. shirt, shorts, trousers and for girls e.g skirt, blouse, wrapper
• LEARNING MATERIALS: Pictures/Chart of boys and girls wears

WEEK 10 &11: Revision

WEEK 12 &13: Examination
