This Basic Science and Technology scheme of work for Nursery One (Second Term) was prepared un accordance to the Lagos State Government Ministry of Education, Early Childhood Care Scheme and has been simplified in such a way that all teachers taking the class will be able easily understand and prepare their lesson plans with it.
It comprises of the topics for the term, teaching activities and suggested learning materials.
BASIC SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY - NURSERY ONE (SECOND TERM)
WEEK ONE: Revision of first term's workWEEK TWO
• TOPIC: Human Body - Outer Part
• CONTENTS/TEACHING ACTIVITIES:
i. Teacher sings songs or recites rhymes on human body.
ii. Teacher guides the pupils to mention and touch the outer parts of the body.
ii. Guide the pupils to list the outer parts of the body.
• LEARNING MATERIALS: Posters/Charts/Pictures showing a well-labelled parts of the body.
WEEK THREE
• TOPIC: Sense Organs
• CONTENTS/TEACHING ACTIVITIES:
i. Give simple meaning sense organs.
ii. Mention the types of sense organs in the body.
iii. Demonstrate the uses of the sense organs to pupils.
• LEARNING MATERIALS: Videos of ryhmes on the five sense organs
WEEK FOUR
• TOPIC: Floating Objects
• CONTENTS/TEACHING ACTIVITIES:
i. Teacher gives simple meaning of floating objects
ii. List some objects that can float in water e.g. leaf, balloon, feather, canoe etc.
iii. Demonstrate the floating process to the pupils.
• LEARNING MATERIALS: Charts/Posters showing objects that can float on water.
WEEK FIVE
• TOPIC: Sinking Objects
• CONTENTS/TEACHING ACTIVITIES
i. Teacher gives simple meaning of sinking objects
ii. List some objects that can sink in water e.g. key stone, nail, bottle, etc
• LEARNING MATERIALS: Charts/Posters showing objects that can sink in water.
WEEK SIX: MID TERM BREAK
WEEK SEVEN
• TOPIC: Floating and Sinking Objects
• CONTENTS/TEACHING ACTIVITIES:
i. Teacher guides the pupils to demonstrate how objects can float or sink.
ii. Teacher encourages the pupils to give or spot the differences between objects that can sink or float.
• LEARNING MATERIALS: Charts/Posters showing objects that can float and sink in water.
WEEK EIGHT
• TOPIC: Fruits - Types
i. Give simple meaning of fruits with the use of real fruits or charts.
ii. Guide the pupils to mention their favourite
fruits and other fruits that can be found in the environment.
iii. Explain to the pupils where fruits can be found.
• LEARNING MATERIALS: Posters/Charts showing various kinds of edible and fruits in the environment
WEEK NINE
• TOPIC: Fruits - Functions
• CONTENTS/TEACHING ACTIVITIES:
i. The teacher sings songs or recites rhymes on fruits.
ii. The teacher explains the functions of fruits in the body.
• LEARNING MATERIALS: Videos of rhymes on Fruits and their benefits
WEEK 10 & 11: REVISION
WEEK 12 & 13: EXAMINATION
